Below is a map of the Slough area with the known extent of the cavern system mapped.
It is believed that the system could extend alot further. It also goes along way down. So far down in fact that expolorers have discovered warm pools of mud. These pools of mildly warm mud would indicate a fissure reaching down to far greater depths where the weight of the overhead bedrock creates such an intense pressure, combined with the warming effect that the center of the earth to creates, that fluids are heated, and rise up to create hot mud pools. Scientists are hoping to locate a suitable access point near to junction 15 of the M25 in order to open the cavern system up as a theme park, however, they say the principal stumbling block is that much of the system is at least 1 mile beneath the surface, which is why its never before been discovered. |
